Weir-ed

Wearing this jacket always reminds me of Lindsey Weir from "Freaks and Geeks". She always rocked an oversized military jacket like no one's business. I really love that show, it's the perfect amalgamation of the 70's and the 90's. The 90's are back in style in a big way right now and I'm loving it. All I need is a good flannel and some combat boots and I'm set.

Orange You Glad

Happy Friday guys! It's been a busy week around here and unfortunately it's not quite done yet. Oh well, such is the life. Anyway, I'm really loving the moto trend that's going on right now. I love the fun vibe that a moto inspired piece can give to an outfit. I especially like pairing moto with more femme or boho items for a fun and unexpected twist. I thought the peter pan collar on this blouse balanced out my funky knit moto jacket really well. What do you guys think of the moto trend? How would you wear moto? Let me know in the comments.

Grand

There are a lot of things that make it feel like fall to me; Pumpkin patches, scary movies, fallen leaves. But the season just isn't quite complete to me without my family's annual cookout. Every year since I can remember my family has gathered around at my grandparent's house for good food and good company. We used to do it to celebrate my Grandpa's birthday and after he passed away we kept the tradition going. There's nothing he loved more than being surrounded by friends and family just having a good time. We had the cookout last Saturday and it was truly wonderful. There's just something about going back to my grandparent's house that makes me feel like a kid again.

Winona

It's finally starting to feel like fall; the leaves are changing, the days are shortening, and all I want to do is curl up with a chai latte and a good book. This week, I'm planning on starting my annual tradition of over-celebrating Halloween. I love scary movies, they're one of my favorite parts of the season and I'm going to binge on them over the next few weeks. I'm also very fond of some of the sillier Halloween films out there. That being said, I'm going to start my moviefest with an old favorite, "Beetlejuice". This outfit made me feel a little like Winona Ryder's character in the movie. I guess it has something to do with the angsty attitude towards life or the hat...it's probably just the hat.

Fair Play

It's been a pretty busy week around here. Luke and my roommate both had birthdays this week, so there have been celebrations all around. Luke and I drove down to Winston-Salem a few days ago for the Dixie Classic Fair. It was a ton of fun! There's definitely a big difference between riding the rides as a kid and riding them as an adult though. As a child, I could get off one ride and go running to the next, but as a 22-year-old I stumbled off the rides and needed a break before hopping on another. My head was spinning by the end of the night. Riding the Tilt-A-Whirl after the Spaceship 2000 was definitely a bad idea, I would not recommend that sequence for anyone over the age of 16. Anyhow, I hope you all are having a great week!

Still Hanging On

Well, summer's still hanging on tight around here. It felt really weird wearing sandals in October but when it's still eighty degrees outside, there aren't a whole lot of footwear options. This is probably my favorite and least favorite time of year. I love the changing leaves and the promise of fall but the weather is all over the place. It'll be sixty degrees one day and almost eighty the next. It probably won't stay reliably cool until late October. Oh well, such is the life in the Piedmont.

Until Next Time,

Take Two...Or Three

Hey guys! I had to take a little break there because my computer's hard drive decided that it was a good time to crash. Fortunately, I'm still covered under warranty so I got everything sorted out with minimal headaches. But, I still had to go to the Apple store three times yesterday. Apparently things have been happening to me in threes lately, because these pictures are the result of my third outfit photo attempt. We tried to get some pics last week before we went to Asheville but due to a time crunch, I only managed to get a couple decent pictures. After we got back from the trip, we decided to go back to the arboretum for pictures only to discover that my camera's battery was dead. So, a quick trip back to the apartment and an impatient thirty minutes later, we were back at the park ready to race the light for a few good photos. Surprisingly, I'm pretty pleased with how these came out. I guess everything was worth the trouble...sort of.
