Summer 2015 Must-Haves

1. Off The Shoulder: The cold shoulder trend came in big this spring and it's not going anywhere anytime soon. I love the super feminine, sultry vibe this style gives off and the pretty vintage inspired print of the H&M top above is a perfect homage to the 70's. 

2. Espadrilles: Another 70's throwback style that's come back with a vengeance this season. I love the simple, casual, kind of boho edge these pretty sandals give to an outfit. I thought the lovely cream color of the DV by Dolce Vita pair above would be the perfect neutral for summer.

3. Rompers: Jumpsuits and rompers have been all the rage for a while now, but there's just something about an easy all-in-one outfit that screams for summer. I'm crazy about the tie-dye print and little tassels on the Aeropostale romper above.

4. T-Shirt Dress: In the prime of summer, there are very few things I want more than air conditioning and iced tea but an easy breezy a-line dress makes going outside almost bearable. There's nothing quite like clothes that don't actually touch your body to help beat the heat. The little H&M dress above would be a great throw-on-in-a-pinch kind of piece.

5. Chambray: Lately, I've been all about chambray everything-blouses, dresses, tees, skirts. You name it, I probably want it. It's just a perfect neutral that you can wear with literally anything. I could easily wear the Thread & Supply tank above a hundred ways.

6. Strappy-Back Bralette: I love the look of all the backless summer pieces but, as any of my fellow busty girls can attest, going braless isn't usually a good option. Luckily, pretty little bralettes, like the Abercrombie & Fitch one above, let me rock those exposed back styles without accidentally exposing anything else.

7. Round Sunglasses: I know, I know, another 70's inspired trend. I would say sorry, but I'm not. If I could look like I stepped out of the 1970's every day, I would. There's just something about the aesthetic of that time period that I'm really drawn to. These glasses from H&M are such a cool twist on a classic look, and that is definitely something I can get behind.

Winter 2014 Must- Haves

1. Blanket Scarf: These have been all over the place for months and, as I've said many times before, I stand firmly behind any fashion item that doubles as a blanket. These come in all kinds of varieties but I'm particularly drawn to the plaid and or chunky knit ones like the above one from Urban Outfitters.

2. Glitter Eyeliner: Ok, maybe calling this a must-have is a bit of a stretch but nothing says winter to me quite like metallic golden hues. Also, I'm really looking for an excuse to buy this little pretty and what better way to celebrate the new year than with a glittery cat eye? Just go with me here, guys. This eyeliner is fabulous and as far as I'm concerned glitter eye makeup is a must all year round.

3. Chunky Sweater: Whether you like them cropped or oversized, cream or black, a big chunky sweater is a necessity to survive the winter chills. A great sweater goes with everything, jeans and ankle booties, layered over a dress with tall riding boots. I wear my sweaters to death and this little ditty from Choies would be a great addition to any wardrobe.

4. Headwraps: I don't know if this is a trend lately or just an obsession of mine but I can't get enough of pretty headwraps like the one above from Amazon. Seriously, join me on this bandwagon, you won't regret it. These are perfect to cover up a bad (or, lets be honest, dirty) hair day and, as an added bonus, they keep your ears super warm.

5. Capes: These have been gaining popularity since early fall and a cozy wool version is perfect for those chilly winter days. There are so many variations of this trend out there right now, I just loved the cool moto detail on the H&M one above.

6. Wide-Brim Fedora: I'll admit it, I wear these about year round but there's just something about this hat that screams winter. I'm imagining the way this lovely topper would look on a snowy day with a chunky knit sweater and a big wool coat. There are a lot of options out there for hats like this but this one from Forever 21 is definitely a wallet-friendly choice.

7. Riding Boots: Confession time, I actually splurged and bought these boots for myself with some Christmas money I got. I'd been looking to replace my super beat up Steve Madden boots for a while and when someone returned these beauties to my store, I decided it was fate. And, honestly, I think it was a great purchase. These are beautifully made, super comfy, and the leather feels like absolute butter. I'm looking forward to rocking these for years to come. (They're the Sam Edelman Penny Riding Boot in Whiskey-I got mine from Anthro because of my discount, but I think they're on sale at Nordstrom).

Whew! This season's must-haves were definitely the hardest for me to come up with. Winter is not my favorite season and it's difficult for me to come up with things I'm excited to wear when the weather is less than sunny. If you too suffer from the curse of the chilly closet, I hope you'll find this little guide helpful and maybe a bit inspiring, I know making it made me feel less dreary about dressing for the upcoming months. Fall 2014 Must- Haves

1. Blanket Cardigan: Like I mentioned in my last post, I'm crazy about big cozy cardigans like this one from blackfive.com. Any clothing item that doubles as bedding is a-ok in my book. Also, the geometric print on this cardi is to die for. It would look great paired with leather leggings and ankle booties.

2. Vampy Lipstick: Without fail, I crave dark lips every fall. Something about the crisp weather and the spooky Halloween vibe in the air makes me want to cover my mouth in dark plum and cranberry hues. This particular lipstick from NARS is a bit out of my price range but the shade was just too perfect not to include it here. I'm sure I can find a dupe for this color at a lower price point, I'll let you guys know.

3. Floppy Hat: I have a minor (read: major) hat fixation and this little ditty from warehouse.co.uk is autumn ready. I just finished watching American Horror Story: Coven and their hat game was on point. That whole season had me craving floppy hats and maxi skirts, all in black of course.

4. Poncho: Capes and ponchos have been all over the place this season. We have several items of this style at Anthropologie right now and I expect I'll give in any day now and purchase one. You just can't beat a soft, oversized pullover like the H&M one above for those chilly fall mornings.

5. Flannel: I know, I know, this is so cliche but flannel and fall just go together so perfectly. I've been combing the thrift stores lately trying to find a perfectly worn in flannel shirt to add to my fall wardrobe. This one from H&M is a great option but flannel is one of those things I'm determined to thrift.

6. Vest: Fall is all about the layers and a vest is one of the most versatile layering ones you can own. I'd recommend something with a touch of shearling or fur for an autumn ready look that can't be beat. The fallfor.com one above would be perfect with dark denim and block heeled ankle boots.

7. Satchel: Even though I'm not going back to school this year, I can't help but crave structured, book ready bags. This pretty one from Modcloth would work in the office as well as the classroom.

8. Ankle Booties: This list of mine just wouldn't be complete without an ode to my favorite footwear of the moment. I just can't get enough of them! These lovely beige ones from Missguided are too cool to resist. They'd be great with a little floral dress or jeans and a cozy sweater. If you can only get one item for fall, I would wholeheartedly recommend buying a pair of ankle boots. They go with absolutely everything and are perfect to help transition summerier pieces to cooler weather.

Summer 2014 Must Haves

Hey guys! Just popping in today with some of the items I'm craving to add to my closet this season. I don't know if these necessarily qualify as trends (although some of them may be trendy items), for me, this is just a list of things I'm into this season. I hope you enjoy! 1. Crochet Vest: I'm all about a great vest no matter what the thermometer says, but something about these lovely, fringey crochet ones just scream summertime to me. I can picture myself spinning around in this little number by Mango at all the imaginary music festivals I plan to attend.

2. Neutral Maxi Dress: During the summer months, I find myself drawn to simple, easy pieces and there are few items that fit that bill better than a plain ol' maxi. I love how effortlessly put-together a neutral colored maxi dress can make me feel, just add bangles and a messy bun and you're good to go. The dress pictured above is from H&M.

3. Beaded Necklace: You really can't go wrong with a bright beaded necklace any time of year, but the turquoise and coral combo in this Baublebar one is practically begging to be worn all summer long. 

4. LWD: The little white dress is summer fashion's answer to everything. I can't get enough of these sorts of dresses lately. The crisp color is perfect for hot weather and the swingy fit of this Mango dress is ideal for those sweltering days when you can't stand for clothes to touch you (I'm also a sucker for the pretty embroidery).

5. Cuff Bracelet: These bracelets are great statement pieces to accessorize those bare summer arms. I love the way a bold geometric cuff looks when paired with a more minimalistic outfit. I thought the pretty turquoise on this Modcloth one gave it an extra summery appeal.

6. Gladiator Sandals: I know these are kind of an oldie, but for some reason they feel really fresh to me this season. I've been coveting these beautiful Sam Edelman ones for a while now, but, unfortunately, they're a bit out of my price range. I love to offset a shorter hemline with a taller sandal and some strappy gladiators suit that asthetic to a T. (P.S. my birthday is in July so if anyone feels compelled to buy me something extravagant I wear a size 8 in shoes! ha)

7. Relaxed Fit Shorts: I won't lie, I pretty much live in shorts like these. Seriously, I've worn some iteration of basically the same outfit three times this week. Half-tucked v-neck tee, lace up sandals, done. The shorts pictured above are from H&M.

Spring 2014 must-haves

Spring 2014 must-haves

Hey guys! I thought I'd just pop in today and share some of the items I'm crazy about for Spring. There are so many great trends going on this season and I'm really looking forward to incorporating these in my wardrobe. This list is by no means a compilation of all the trends or anything like that, it's just a roundup of some of the things I'm excited to wear this Spring (and I hope you are too).

1. Vests: As evidenced by my last post, I love a good vest. Denim, shearling, cargo, I'll rock them all. This little olive utility number from Old Navy is definitely on my wishlist this season.

2. Shift Dresses: This shape is a little outside my normal fit-and-flare comfort zone but I've been finding myself really drawn to it lately. They seem like an easy throw on in a pinch garment that will easily transition into Summer. I thought the Dorothy Perkins one above was a great color that could be very versatile.

3. Lace Up Sandals: I've been seeing variations of these little babies all over the place lately. These are definitely an of-the-moment kind of item but I'm digging the boho vibe they bring. There's all kinds of variations on this style available right now but I tend to favor those of the flat or low wedge variety. The ones pictured above are from Pacsun.

4. Tribal Jewelry- Tribal inspired pieces and prints are huge right now. They've been cropping up in so many places that even Luke (the trend blind boyfriend) noticed. I thought this Sole Society necklace was a pretty interpretation of the trend.

5. Floppy Hats- I'm kind of a hat freak, so this probably isn't actually a Spring specific thing. However, I'm definitely loving this style lately. The ASOS hat above is a great neutral color for the (hopefully) upcoming warm weather.

6. Cropped, Boxy Tops: This shape has been really popular at Anthropologie lately and I think it's a really fresh look for Spring. The F21 sweater above would be really great thrown over a dress for those still-cool days.

7. Ankle Boots: I love these year round but I'm really feeling them for Spring. I have quite a few pairs in my closet and they get a lot of wear, I think my other shoes are getting jealous. The H&M ones above are a great neutral color and a perfect heel height.

8. Denim Jackets: It's a well-documented fact that I love denim jackets (and vests, and shirts, and pants). I'm always on the lookout for new ones to add to my collection. The lighter wash of this H&M one is a fresh shade for Spring that I'm looking forward to sporting with sundresses and colored denim all season and into Summer.
