My Current Obsessions

Hey guys! I haven't done one of these posts in a while and I figured it was time for another one. So, without further ado, here's what I can't get enough of lately.

1. Cats- As you might have gathered from some of my previous posts I've always been a little cat crazy. However, lately, it's gotten much worse. A friend of mine recently moved in with me and she brought her sweet little kitty with her. I'm cat-sitting for her this week while she's on vacation and I love it. Lincoln's pretty much the best thing ever. He runs to the door to greet me when I come home and he immediately hops into my lap when I sit down. A girl could get used to living like this.

2. Coffee Mugs- I'm a huge coffee and tea addict so having a decent supply of coffee mugs around has always been a necessity for me. But recently I decided to start collecting cool/cute/quirky coffee mugs. I really like the idea of having useful collections of things. So, I've started picking up fun mugs wherever I can find them. I grab them at tourist traps when I visit somewhere and I look for interesting ones at thrift stores. I just love them! It really brightens my morning to get my caffeine fix from a cute receptacle.

3. Books- This is probably an obvious one since I have an English degree and all, but, as of late my book collection has gotten a little out of control. I've been hitting up thrift stores looking for beat up Harry Potter books for a craft project (details to come) and I can't seem to leave without at least four or five (non HP) books in tow. Seriously, it's getting out of control. I have a pile of books sitting on the floor next to my bed waiting on me to find a place for them.

4. Board Games- I am a huge game person. I love playing board games, especially trivia games. It's one of the few things that inevitably brings out my competitive side. I've gotten incredibly lucky lately in finding games at thrift stores. Board games are super expensive in stores and I'm not usually willing to spend that much on them. So, I always take a tour through the toys in thrift stores looking for games. I've gathered quite the little stockpile. Now, the only thing that's missing is people to play with! Any takers?

5. Community- I love this show! Luke and I started watching it together and it's pretty fantastic. Seriously, if you aren't watching Community you should be, you won't regret it.

Thrift Haul

Hey guys! just popping in quickly today to show you some of my recently thrifted goodies. I feel like I should preface this by telling you guys a little tip. A lot of Goodwills (at least in North Carolina) have a deal with Target. This means that Target donates slightly damaged and off-size items to local Goodwills. So, if you ask around at your local Goodwill, you can find out what day they get their Target stuff in and you can walk out of there with an armful of brand new with tags, still in Target stores goodies at thrift store prices. One of my favorite Goodwills in Asheville was recently renovated and they almost always have a huge rack full of their Target donations. I've found dresses from the Target designer collaborations there, I got a Prabal Gurung for Target dress for only $5 when it was still in store for $54. All of that being said, many of the things in this post are a part of this Target/Goodwill deal.

My first lucky find is a little peplum-esque tank top made by Xhiliration.

My second pick is a pair of mint skinny pants. I actually saw these on sale in Target and almost bought them. I ended up deciding to get the lavender ones instead but just a few days later I found the exact same pants at Goodwill. I figured it was fate.

Find number three is a super pretty striped maxi skirt. I've been having a love affair with maxis all summer and I couldn't resist this fun and casual skirt.

My fourth pick is mixed print, stripe and floral maxi dress. The bottom part of this dress is sheer and it has some really pretty slits on the sides.

My fifth find is a bright orange fit and flare dress that was originally from H&M. I loved the color and the little zipper in the back. Also, it has a really subtle hi-low hemline so it's a nice classic dress with just a hint of trendiness.

The last thing I have to show you guys today is a really pretty black and white stripe dress. It even came with a skinny red faux leather belt. This dress has such a ladylike vibe and I think it would be perfect for an interview or a dressy family get together.

I've been considering doing a post about how I thrift, kind of a how-to but with some of my favorite tips and tricks. If you guys have any thoughts about this, please let me know in the comments. I'll see you guys soon!

Until Next Time,
Cait

Whoa, August...When did that happen? It feels like this summer has absolutely blown by. It's the strangest idea that I won't be going back to school this fall. I've been feeling the familiar back-to-school anxious excitement that always hits this time of year. The only thing missing is the going to school part. I don't think it feels real yet. Maybe once classes start back and my roommates are going to school it'll feel more like it's actually happening. Everything has been so surreal this summer, it's a new start and I'm really excited and nervous about it.

Anyway, on a lighter note, I really liked this outfit. These boots are probably some of my favorite shoes right now. I got them when I was in New York and I've worn them almost every day since. I love the kind of tougher vibe they give to a girly dress.

Sorry, about the little break I took there. Once again, life got in the way. Oh well, it happens. That's about all I've got for you today!

Until Next Time,
Cait
