Home

Hi guys! I hope you're all having a fabulous Thanksgiving week! I drove back to Asheville yesterday and I'm going to be in the lovely NC mountains through Thursday. Being back home has been great, I'm currently sitting on my Mom's couch in a pumpkin pie induced food coma watching "How The Grinch Stole Christmas". I'll probably put on real pants soon and hit up some of my old haunts. I'm really looking forward to shopping at the local Goodwill and sipping a chai latte at my favorite little coffee shop.

Chill

Happy Friday! It's been a pretty great week around here, getting geared up for the holidays. I actually started Christmas shopping a few days ago! I know it seems super early, but I'm trying to get a head start on things this year to avoid my usual mad, last-minute dash for gifts. This was a fun little outfit to wear out to the movies with Luke. I did get a bit cold but I'm trying to put off wearing tights as long as I possibly can. I know I'll be sick of them by the time March rolls around so, for now, I'll take tall boots and chilly stems.

No More Hiding

Well, I told you guys there were going to be some changes. The decision to cut off all my hair was a last minute one, but it was definitely the right one. I feel lighter and bolder without all that hair holding me back. I didn't really tell anyone I was doing this before it was done (not even Luke). I just didn't want to be talked out of doing it. I guess, this is kind of my incredibly stereotypical way of reclaiming me. I felt like my hair had become something else for me to hide behind. When I explained that to Luke, he asked me a question that I hadn't really wanted to hear, "What do you have to hide from?" And the only answer that I could give was the true one, me. It's easy to pretend like you're doing ok as long as you can convince yourself that nothing's really changed. But it has, my life is in flux now, and that's ok, it's even good. I'm tired of pretending that things aren't changing. Life goes on and I don't want to find myself five years down the road wishing I could do it all over again. I want to live my life the way it is. It's not how I thought it would be, but things never are. I'm done hiding from it.

Glasses

I think these glasses are the winners from my Warby Parker home try-on. They're the Sinclair in Burgundy Fade and I love them. I really like the fact that WP lets you bring some of the glasses home where you can wear them around and see what you think after having them on for a bit. A few minutes just isn't enough time to know if a pair of glasses are really going to work for you. I got to wear all five pairs around and see if they pinched my head or kept slipping down my nose. I'm very happy to report that after about eight hours of wear, these were still comfy. I even got a couple compliments on them. I'm still not entirely sure if these are the ones for me (I might have to get another try-on pack to be sure), but I really like them. I didn't mean for this to sound like a commercial for Warby Parker, I just really like their products and the concept behind the company is something I really support. What do you guys think of these glasses/ Warby Parker? I'd love to hear from you in the comments!

Change

Outfit posts two days in a row? I know, it's crazy! I ended up with a couple of days off from work so I've had some extra time this week. It's been pretty great. I went thrifting, made pumpkin waffles, and (finally) cleaned my apartment. I figured I should get my place to a state of semi-organization before the holiday hurricane blows through and destroys everything again. I can't believe how quickly the holidays are coming this year. I went into Starbucks and it was like walking into Christmasland, fake snow and red glitter as far as the eyes could see. It's also been unseasonably cold here in good old NC, it actually snowed the other day! It was probably a bit too cold for leggings, but it's not like it's the first time I've sacrificed warmth for an outfit. This outfit is a bit out of my usual comfort zone but I really liked it. It was surprisingly comfy and it made me feel cool (which is an incredibly difficult task). It's easy to get stuck in the routine of what's comfortable and it's really nice to get out of that. Not that there's anything wrong with sticking to comfort, I just think that I've hit a point in my life where different is not only desirable, but necessary. I never thought I would look forward to change, but I am. It feels like a turning point and I'm excited to see where things go.

Novembrrrrrr

Things have been a bit quiet on the blog here lately because I'm in the midst of a busy week of playing catch-up at work. I guess that's what happens when you take a week off during holiday prep time. It's crazy how quickly time seems to be moving lately. Halloween was just last week and all of a sudden we're getting ready for Christmas at Anthropologie. We started slipping Christmas music into our regular song list and we've started decorating the store. Also, it's getting cold around here. I was freezing during this photo session (and I have some rather unattractive jumping around to stay warm pics to prove it). They're even predicting snow as early as next week! So much for fall, huh?

My Current Obsessions

It's strange to think that Fall is practically over. The time has been just flying by lately and I don't know how or even if I want to slow it down. I'm feeling a bit nostalgic tonight so at the risk of boring you to death with memories of the past, I'll just dive right in to what's been keeping me going in the present.

1. Dirty Chai Lattes: These have literally been keeping me going lately. I'm an admitted caffeine addict and this drink is currently my favorite way to get my fix. For those of you who are as yet unaware of the wonders of a dirty chai, it's a chai latte with a shot (or two...or three) of espresso. Genius, right? All the wake up power of coffee mixed with the cozy yummyness of tea. It's a great combo, and one I would certainly recommend trying out.

2. R.L Stine: When I was in middle school I couldn't get enough of Stine's books, I probably devoured one or two a week for a while. I was never really into the "Goosebumps" books but I must've read almost all of the "Fear Street" series. When I was home last, I found a stockpile of his books and decided to bring them back to Greensboro with me. I've already re-read three of them and I don't seem to be showing any signs of slowing down. While they're not quite as scary as I remember, they're still pretty good.

3. Cardigans: I've always had a sweater obsession but lately it's been getting a touch out of control. I can't help it, I just love the way a good cardigan can transform any outfit and keep you cozy warm. It doesn't help that we keep getting all these great new sweaters in at Anthro. Apparently I keep confusing working with shopping, maybe someday I'll be able to get the two straight.

4. Glasses: I've had the same pair of Ray Ban glasses for the whole two and a half years of my glasses wearing life. While I love my current glasses, I've been wanting a second, different pair for a little while now. I heard about a company called Warby Parker quite a bit ago and was really intrigued by their concept. They offer designer frames with prescription lenses for only $95 and for every pair purchased, they donate a pair to a person in need. Also, since they're a mainly online company, they have a free home try-on service. I ordered my try-on package a few days ago and I'm really excited to see what the glasses look like in real life. Maybe I'll post some pictures on here so you guys can help me decide which ones to choose.

5. How I Met Your Mother: I've enjoyed this show for quite a while but I've really been binging on it lately. I think it's charming, funny, and different from a lot of the other shows on TV. Also, I adore Alyson Hannigan so I was pretty much guaranteed to love this show no matter what.

So, that's what I've been into lately. Let me know what you think or if there's anything you can't get enough of in the comments.

A-Bun-Dant

Hey guys! Long time no see! I took a little trip back home last week to house/dog sit for my Dad and I've come down with a cold. This is the first real outfit I've worn in like five days, so trust me you haven't missed much. Anyhow, I just realized that this is the third post in a row where my hair is in a bun. I would say it's a coincidence but I'd be lying if I told you my hair didn't spend most days in a ball on the top of my head. Well that's about all I've got for you right now. Hopefully, I'll bounce back soon!
Until Next Time,
Cait
