Gray Dress, White Legs

We got lucky in the weather department this week and ended up with  a couple of warm days. Which, in turn, gives you lovelies prime viewership of my pasty white legs. These babies haven't seen the sun in many months and they have the lack of coloring to prove it. As unpredictable as NC weather can be, I actually enjoy it sometimes, it's nice to get a reprieve from the chill for a few days. But, unfortunately, I know that winter's not done with us just yet. They're calling for snow here again next week, so I'm making the most of going tightsless while I can. Anyhow, I'm off to a hot date with a tanning bed. I'll catch you guys later!

Casual Phase

I've noticed myself being more drawn to pants lately, which is odd because I'm usually much more of a dresses kind of gal. I guess I could blame it on the colder weather but it's probably due more to laziness. This outfit is one of my "uniforms". I have a few ensemble formulas that I always know I can throw on and feel good about in a pinch. This is probably one of my favorites because I can create so many variations of it.

I suppose the point of this post is just to say that I'm sartorially lazy sometimes. I don't get all dolled up everyday, and that's alright. My style's gotten more casual lately and I actually kind of like it. I've learned to embrace my style as it is right now. It's always going to change so I should make the most of every phase, because who knows how long it'll last.

Snow Day

We don't get a lot of snow here in North Carolina. So, whenever we get a few inches it seems like the whole world stops. Businesses close, roads become unnavigable, and everyone stays indoors. It's actually kind of nice. If you want to go anywhere, you're pretty much restricted to walking there (unless you have a four-wheel-drive vehicle). Everything is so quiet and desolately beautiful. The roommates and I decided to venture out for some snow fun and pictures. After an exhausting day of making snow angels and climbing snowy hills we settled in with Chinese takeout and a New Girl marathon. All in all, I'd say it was a successful snow day.

Put a Cape on it

This outfit was really fun to wear for a casual day of errand running. If you've never worn a cape, I highly suggest it, you'll feel light and swingy all day. I even got told that this looked like something Audrey Hepburn would wear. If that isn't a reason to wear a cape, I don't know what is! Also, this is probably one of the comfiest outfits I've worn in a while. An oversized top, with jeans so soft and stretchy I should probably call them leggings, how could you go wrong? Remember the dress I wore in this post? This is the shirt version of it, and it's the best thing ever. My love of big comfy shirts is only eclipsed by Scooby Doo, and queso dip.

P.S. I couldn't come up with a solid cape pun for the title of this post. Anyone have any suggestions for the next time I wear this jacket?

Flurries and Free Coffee

I know you can't really tell in these photos but it was snowing! Although, it was just a light flurry, it was lovely and magical. I love snow, it makes the whole world look different and it always puts me in a fantastic mood. It makes those cold winter days a little cheerier and it got this girl outside and photo ready. The free coffee that I scored from Caribou Coffee didn't hurt my attitude either. I'm looking forward to a few more snowy days, but I'm pretty ready for the weather to warm up after that. We've started installing all the Spring displays at Anthro and they're making me crave the bright days of sundresses and bare legs. Alas, I suppose I'll just have to satisfy myself with Pinterest and magazine pictures until the climate decides to coincide with my style whims.

Cold

Hello again! It's been a bit since I've posted because I'm finding it terribly hard to get motivated to take pictures when it's cold out. I guess, looking at other style blogs, I never really thought about the actual process of taking outfit photos. I didn't even pause to consider the fact that these people are standing outside in the freezing cold without a coat on for however long it takes to get the right shots. I just don't have the patience for it. I still enjoy blogging and I like doing pictures but I get so frustrated. Every time we try to do photos it's like racing the clock, attempting to get what I need before the light runs out or I start shivering. There's also the issue of my perpetual "cold face" to contend with. So, long story short, cold weather sucks.

Quality

Hello again! This dress was always a little short on me (like most F21 dresses) but I accidentally put it in the dryer and it came out even smaller. I guess I didn't realize just how short it was until I saw these pictures. Oops! I think it might be time for me to say goodbye to this too-mini little number. Forever 21 can be a bit iffy in the quality department. Most of the time you end up with a dress you can never dry but every now and then you get a great piece like this jacket. This is probably the only Forever 21 item that's lasted more than a year in my closet, in fact it's lasted 3! I love this jacket, it's one of those lucky finds that I'll be wearing for years to come. So, moral of the story: Be careful what you buy. I'm still figuring things out (obviously), but I think I'm getting better at determining what's worth the splurge and what's a waste of money. Although, it can be a little painful to fork over more dough, I've found that it's worth it to buy quality pieces. I also shop secondhand stores a lot because you can get high market items for lower than low market prices (that's my kind of place). Shop wisely, my friends!
