Grump

I'm a wee bit grumpy today so I figured instead of writing some inane paragraph about how lovely things are, I should just be honest and list some of the things that are bugging me today.
1. The overwhelming "meh" quality of these pictures
2. Cats *cough, Lincoln, cough* who think the purpose of Christmas decorations is their entertainment
3. Cleaning up after the aforementioned tree destroying creatures
4. People who seem to forget the laws of traffic during the holidays
5. Days that start at 4:30 a.m.

Seasonal

Hi guys! Luke and I snapped these pictures earlier today after a bout of Christmas shopping. Fortunately, I'm almost finished. I just have three more gifts to pick up and I'm all done. I love going out and choosing gifts for people but I really hate fighting through the crowds. Hopefully I'll be able to finish up tomorrow and then I can get down to wrapping! I'm so excited to start really enjoying the season. Christmastime is one of my favorite times of year and I'm looking forward to lots of hot cocoa, cheesy movies and tacky Christmas clothing (you guys will probably get a peek or two at the latter). I'm in for a really busy week but hopefully I'll be able to fit in a few photo sessions, I'd almost forgotten how much fun outfit pictures can be. See you guys soon!

Stripey Mcstriperson

Hi all! I just realized I've been posting a lot of stripes lately, hence the title of this post. I hadn't really noticed my striped tendencies of late, but I guess I have photographic evidence of my predictable pattern choices. Sorry about the iffy pictures in this post, it was too dark and rainy outside so Luke and I had to improvise in Barnes and Noble. I've been wanting to do an indoor shoot for a while but I would have preferred a planned one, I suppose the universe had other plans though. Hope you're having a wonderful week, see you soon!

Momentary Lapse

Whoops! I took a bit more of a break there than I intended. I guess I've just been spending more time getting lost in the moments rather than observing them lately. Which I don't think is necessarily a bad thing. It's been really nice actually. I've been busy at work but I've found that I'm better at my job and the time goes by faster when I let myself be completely present. That's something I'd really like to work on doing, being in the moment and experiencing my life as it happens. My hope is that this goal will enrich this blog as well as the rest of my life. I've been feeling a little uninspired lately, and that's not the way I want to enter the holidays and the new year. There are a lot of things coming up that I'm looking forward to and I want to record them here on the blog. Not because I think that they're important or meaningful in and of themselves but because I'd like to be able to look back and see the moments that I thought were worth recording. Because those are probably the ones worth remembering.

Home

Hi guys! I hope you're all having a fabulous Thanksgiving week! I drove back to Asheville yesterday and I'm going to be in the lovely NC mountains through Thursday. Being back home has been great, I'm currently sitting on my Mom's couch in a pumpkin pie induced food coma watching "How The Grinch Stole Christmas". I'll probably put on real pants soon and hit up some of my old haunts. I'm really looking forward to shopping at the local Goodwill and sipping a chai latte at my favorite little coffee shop.

Chill

Happy Friday! It's been a pretty great week around here, getting geared up for the holidays. I actually started Christmas shopping a few days ago! I know it seems super early, but I'm trying to get a head start on things this year to avoid my usual mad, last-minute dash for gifts. This was a fun little outfit to wear out to the movies with Luke. I did get a bit cold but I'm trying to put off wearing tights as long as I possibly can. I know I'll be sick of them by the time March rolls around so, for now, I'll take tall boots and chilly stems.

No More Hiding

Well, I told you guys there were going to be some changes. The decision to cut off all my hair was a last minute one, but it was definitely the right one. I feel lighter and bolder without all that hair holding me back. I didn't really tell anyone I was doing this before it was done (not even Luke). I just didn't want to be talked out of doing it. I guess, this is kind of my incredibly stereotypical way of reclaiming me. I felt like my hair had become something else for me to hide behind. When I explained that to Luke, he asked me a question that I hadn't really wanted to hear, "What do you have to hide from?" And the only answer that I could give was the true one, me. It's easy to pretend like you're doing ok as long as you can convince yourself that nothing's really changed. But it has, my life is in flux now, and that's ok, it's even good. I'm tired of pretending that things aren't changing. Life goes on and I don't want to find myself five years down the road wishing I could do it all over again. I want to live my life the way it is. It's not how I thought it would be, but things never are. I'm done hiding from it.

Glasses

I think these glasses are the winners from my Warby Parker home try-on. They're the Sinclair in Burgundy Fade and I love them. I really like the fact that WP lets you bring some of the glasses home where you can wear them around and see what you think after having them on for a bit. A few minutes just isn't enough time to know if a pair of glasses are really going to work for you. I got to wear all five pairs around and see if they pinched my head or kept slipping down my nose. I'm very happy to report that after about eight hours of wear, these were still comfy. I even got a couple compliments on them. I'm still not entirely sure if these are the ones for me (I might have to get another try-on pack to be sure), but I really like them. I didn't mean for this to sound like a commercial for Warby Parker, I just really like their products and the concept behind the company is something I really support. What do you guys think of these glasses/ Warby Parker? I'd love to hear from you in the comments!
